Description

This qualification fully complies with HSE requirements and is for employees who are required to act as an Emergency First Aider at Work with the emphasis on preventing situations becoming worse and maintaining life until help arrives. The course is designed to develop knowledge and ability and most importantly practical confidence.

Duration

A minimum of six hours of theoretical and practical activities.

Syllabus

A range of subjects is covered including:

  • Responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Basic hygiene in First Aid
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Resuscitation
  • Heart attacks
  • Bleeding
  • Minor injuries
  • Angina
  • Choking
  • Shock
  • Seizures

Certification

No assessment is required and learners will be continually monitored by the trainer with a certificate of attendance awarded at the end of the course. It is recommended that First Aiders take a 3 hour refresher course annually to keep up to date, although this is not compulsory.
